Scalp Micro Pigmentation
Scalp micro pigmentation or SMP for short is a form of cosmetic tattooing typically for balding men (and women) that gives the realistic appearance of hair follicles.
Professional scalp pigmentation simulates fine hair follicles and therefore the optical thickening of thin hair or create a modern buzz cut look (shaved head) in the case of total hair loss. In principle, hair pigmentation can be compared to permanent make-up, because very fine color pigments are implemented into the scalp. Of course, all treatments are carried out using the latest technology and the best hygiene standards, which gives you a perfect result. Micro hair pigmentation is a new, reliable way to help people suffering from hair loss to look more vital. The final look lasts on average 5 to 7 years .
How can scalp micro pigmentation help you?
Scalp micro pigmentation is suitable for a whole range of hair problems. In the case of diffuse hair loss, the hair density can be optically increased. If someone suffers from thinning hair, receding hairlines or bald areas can be filled in again. Pigmentation makes scars almost disappear. With a short hairstyle, a tonsure can be easily concealed. In principle, hair pigmentation can be carried out whenever the scalp becomes visible due to hair loss.
Sometimes the patient’s own hair is no longer sufficient for a hair transplant, and this treatment can be a possible solution. You also don’t have to wait several months for a change, as it is the case with a hair transplant. Many people are also afraid of surgery and therefore prefer hair pigmentation. Hair pigmentation is often carried out after a hair transplant for an even more natural result.
If desired, special short-term pigments can also be used that last for a maximum of 12 months. This can sometimes bridge the waiting time until a hair transplant. Some cancer patients also opt for this option during chemotherapy until their own hair has grown back.
Generally, several sessions are necessary, but the approximate result can be seen after the first pigmentation. Even if hair loss continues, the hair appears much fuller. The healthy hair follicles are not affected by the treatment. Compared to a hair transplant, this method is of course much cheaper. The use of innovative techniques means that the result is very natural. The colors are extremely well tolerated as they are free of heavy metals and pollutants.

FAQs
Do I have to shave my head before hair pigmentation?
This depends on the type of treatment you want. If you have thinning hair and just want to make it appear a little thicker, you obviously don’t have to shave your hair. We can work well between your hairs. However, if you want to achieve a “shaved head look” on your whole head, it is very helpful to shave your hair to around 0 mm – 0.5 mm in length beforehand. After that, we recommend keeping the hair at a maximum length of around 1 – 2 mm.
What should be considered after hair pigmentation?
After the treatment you can do (almost) anything. To achieve the best color result, we ask you to refrain from saunas and strenuous training sessions for a week to avoid excessive sweating. The pigment can be transported out of the skin with sweat. Please do not let your hair get wet for the first three days after the treatment. On the fourth day you can shower your head with warm water. Do not rub your hair or scalp as usual. Instead, carefully pat dry with a towel and carefully blow-dry. Only on the seventh day after the treatment can everything be washed and rubbed with shampoo as usual.
Is there anything I need to consider before treatment?
Excessive alcohol consumption leads to increased bleeding during the treatment. We therefore strongly advise against drinking alcohol the day before your appointment, as it makes the work much more difficult and we cannot guarantee a perfect result.
If you are taking medication to thin your blood, please discuss with your doctor whether a short break in taking the medication is possible.
